Paula Abdul is an American singer, dancer, choreographer, and television personality who rose to fame in the late 1980s with a string of pop hits like “Straight Up” and “Opposites Attract.” Before her music career, she was a highly sought-after choreographer, working with major artists and becoming head choreographer for the Los Angeles Lakers cheerleading squad, the Laker Girls. She later became widely known to a new generation as a judge on American Idol, where her supportive and encouraging style made her a fan favorite.
