Bat
A bat is a flying mammal belonging to the order Chiroptera, making it the only mammal capable of true sustained flight. Bats have thin, flexible wings formed from skin stretched over elongated finger bones, and many species use echolocation—emitting sound waves and interpreting the echoes—to navigate and hunt in the dark. Found all over the world except extreme deserts and polar regions, bats play important ecological roles such as controlling insect populations, pollinating plants, and dispersing seeds. They typically rest upside down and are known for their nocturnal lifestyle and wide diversity, ranging from tiny insect-eating bats to larger fruit bats.
