A hippopotamus is a large, semi-aquatic mammal native to sub-Saharan Africa, known for its massive body, thick skin, and wide mouth with powerful jaws; despite its bulky appearance, it is surprisingly fast on land and spends most of its time in rivers and lakes to stay cool, coming out at night to graze on grass, and is considered one of the most dangerous animals in Africa due to its strong territorial instincts and aggressive behavior.
